New York City — When the runway lights of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) illuminated the Big Apple, the world witnessed more than just fashion — it witnessed history.
Rasneet, a spirited young woman in a wheelchair, and Fred, a jovial and charismatic male model, both participants of the Center for Social Change, stepped into the spotlight and redefined what beauty, inclusion, and empowerment mean on the global fashion stage.
Their journey to NYFW began with a preparation gala in Springfield, Virginia, on August 27, 2023, where they were introduced to the energy, glitz, and grace of the fashion world. On September 9th, they took to the NYFW runway with stunning confidence — Rasneet in a flowing gown titled “Gowns with Crowns”, and Fred beside her, matching stride for stride, proving that fashion is about representation and spirit just as much as style.
“In the heart of the Big Apple, two special souls taught us that beauty has no boundaries.”
The pair didn’t stop there. Their designer looks were captured in a professional photoshoot and displayed in Times Square, marking a powerful moment of visibility for people with disabilities and special needs.
Their presence in New York was a monumental stride towards inclusivity in fashion. Their story is one of courage, joy, and advocacy — and it has already inspired many across communities, industries, and continents.
From the Center for Social Change to the NYFW stage, Rasneet and Fred are proof that representation matters — and the future of fashion is brighter, bolder, and more inclusive than ever.
